How to Clean Jewelry

Cleaning jewelry is something many of us forget about - as long as it looks good, we don't worry about it.  But, cleaning your jewelry is a simple way to keep it looking its best for a long time.  Plus, you may just be surprised by how good it looks once you clean it!

In most cases, you can clean your jewelry at home.  Many stores sell polishing clothes for sterling silver that do a great job.  You can also buy liquid cleaner in the jewelry section of most discount stores that works well on gold and some gemstones.  If you have very dirty sterling silver jewelry, you may prefer to use a cleaning bath, such as this one.

Always read directions carefully when you use or make any jewelry cleaner.  A lot of them aren't safe for more delicate types of jewelry, such as pieces with pearls.  If you're ever in doubt about the safety of a cleaning method, consult a professional.

*Always use common sense and caution when cleaning jewelry.  Follow any directions that came with your jewelry.  We are not responsible or liable for any adverse results that occur from following our suggestions or using any of these products or recipes.  Try them at your own risk.
